Are you Asking yourself these Questions about your Talent Strategy?

QUESTIONS YOU SHOULD STOP ASKING YOURSELF REGARDING YOUR TALENT STRATEGY? (PART 1)

“Should I Invest in a Talent Strategy? Will it be Worth it?”

Are you asking yourself these questions?:

  • “Should I invest in Talent Strategy?”

  • “How do I know it will be worth it?”

  • “What if I spend the money and I regret it?

  • “How do I know I am in the right stage of business to invest in a Talent Strategy”

  • “Will it be in my budget? Will there be something that fits my budget and needs?”

  • “What if they tell me something I could have figured out or done myself?”

  • “What if the strategy does not work?”

  • “What if I am not ready?”

  • “What if I do not have the [time/money/energy] to prioritize a Talent Strategy?”

  • or some other variation of these questions.

Well first and foremost, I hear you and understand your concerns. All of these questions are valid thoughts, questions, concerns that come up when you are considering making a large investment in yourself/your business. You want to know that you are making the “right” choice. I can respect that. However, these are not questions that you want to just think about amongst yourself or even amongst others who may not have the expertise and qualifications to properly address them for you. That is the value of a Discovery Call. You share information about your goals and business, I help and guide you towards the best decision for you and your business. You do not need to spend time wrestling with these questions. You have a business to run. So allow me to handle these questions for you. Let’s take a few of these questions off your mind one by one.

“Should I Invest in Talent Strategy?”

While I try not to be biased about many things, this is not one of them. I absolutely believe that every business with people (even if there is just one person for now) needs to have some sort of Talent Strategy. Initially, that may look like outlining the job responsibilities of a small staff and ensuring that they are aligned on their roles and how it impacts the business. It could also look like addressing conflict and turnover. It could be that you need a strategy for engaging and motivating your workforce. You may need to grow your team to meet future business needs. Each of these people objectives would break down to actionable tasks and methods for tracking and measuring your progress. These people objectives are not the Talent Strategy, they are elements of a larger 1-5 year Talent Plan that would be carried out annually, quarterly, monthly, weekly, daily.

“How do I know it will be worth it?”

When you started your business, there was no guarantees in terms of the level of success you would experience. However, there are always actions that can either move you closer or further away from the success that you would like to achieve. If you want to have a growing and thriving business, then factoring in how you attract, retain, engage, and develop top talent should be worth it for you.

“What if I spend the money and I regret it?

What if you spend the money and you are thrilled? There are always at least two possible outcomes when making an investment in yourself, your business, and your people. But instead of only focusing on what can go wrong, take the actions that will help move you closer to all the ways it can go well. One step, is shifting your mindset and perspective. The second is realizing that even in those instances when you may have felt you made a “bad investment,” you still learned a lesson. The worst case scenario is you learn what does not work for you and your business which still helps you. The best case scenario is you invest in a Talent Strategy that helps take your business to the next level.

“How do I know I am in the right stage of business to invest in a Talent Strategy”

Setting up a Discovery Call and Completing a Client Application / Intake form will help you with that. So instead of wondering and then taking no action, an action you can take today is completing an application.
