USING A FLIGHT ANALOGY

Imagine you are taking a trip across the world. If for instance, you will begin your trip in the East Coast (U.S) and you want to travel to California (U.S), you or your travel agent will develop a plan, best course of action, and strategy.

In this scenario the East Coast is your Current State. California is your Final Destination (or goal). There are several paths you can take in order to reach California depending on what you are trying to accomplish and your greatest priorities.

  • Are you trying to save money?

  • Are you hoping to sight see along the way and have a multitude of experiences?

  • How much does the journey matter to you?

  • Or are you interested in saving time and reaching your destination the quickest way possible?

All of these questions are important and they determine the method and strategies that work best for you travel journey and experience. Similarly, without a Talent Strategy, it is very difficult to be intentional about your course of action and driving your desired results. In order to determine your Talent Strategy, there is a diagnostic and assessment process to understand the GAP between what your talent goals are and the current state of your organization.

As with a Travel Plan, once you have a Talent strategy developed, that is not when the work ends but rather when the work begins. In the instance of the Trip, you still need to either purchase a flight, train ticket, rent a car, or drive an existing car. You may need to purchase a hotel or airbnb. You may decide to create an itinerary for your trip and make decisions around what you will eat and what attractions to partake in. In doing so, you will interface different people or organizations at each stage. Some may decide it would be a better time and convenience investment to hire a travel agent to manage the details of the trip as a travel agent is familiar with travel deals and attraction options saving time and convenience.

Similarly, I help you create a Talent Strategy, map out the details that you do not necessarily want to deal with or do not feel confident in in order to allow you to focus on other business priorities. I empower you to make decisions around a specific path forward as it relates to your Talent Strategy, internal talent, organizational structure, HR practitioners, vendor selection, talent systems/tools/technology, streamlined processes, best practices and advisory as it relates to recruitment, compensation planning, employee relations, performance management, talent development, succession planning. I also provide referrals to third-party service providers who offer more in-depth implementation services in recruitment, compensation, diversity and inclusion etc. I help guide your Talent Strategy and Talent Decisions.
